We are Maren Kowalski and Devon Patel. We live near Bathurst Quay with two children, a folding stroller that has been repaired twice, and a standing arrangement with visiting relatives that the harbour is what you do on the second day. Between us we have taken kids, grandparents, cousins, and one nervous visiting uncle up the tower and around Roundhouse Park in every season for years.

Maren writes about public space and waterfront access; Devon is the one who actually reads the closure notices and packs the snacks. The notes here are the result of that division of labour. Neither of us works for the tower, the restaurant, the aquarium, or any tourism body. We are not travel agents, and we are not being paid to recommend anything.

We started writing this down because the questions we kept getting were never on the official pages. Which elevator fits a stroller at a busy moment. Whether the glass floor is worth the detour with a child who is scared of heights. How much a family actually spends once the gift shop is factored in. Whether the revolving dining room is a treat or a smarter way to spend the same money. Those answers live in a notebook on our kitchen counter, and this is that notebook with better spelling.
